07.08.2026 - COMING SOON!

ezyCollect now supports PayTo, a real-time bank-to-bank payment method built on Australia's New Payments Platform (NPP). PayTo lets your customers authorise payments directly from their bank account through their own banking app — no card details, no manual bank transfer steps, and funds move in real time.

You don't need to do anything to turn PayTo on or manage which customers use it — ezyCollect automatically detects whether a payment is eligible for PayTo and routes it accordingly. If it isn't eligible, the payment simply proceeds via the standard bank transfer/EFT (BECS) flow your customers already use today. Nothing changes in your setup, and there's no disruption to the customer's payment experience either way.

How it works

When a customer goes to pay an invoice via bank transfer in ezyCollect, the system checks the payment against PayTo's eligibility criteria in real time:

  1. PayTo supported → The customer sees a PayTo authorisation flow. They confirm the payment in their own banking app (via PayID, or BSB and account number), and the funds are transferred in real time.

  2. PayTo not supported → The system automatically falls back to the standard BECS bank transfer/EFT flow. The customer follows the same process they're used to today — no error, no interruption, no extra steps for them or you.

This detection and switching happens instantly and behind the scenes. Your customer never has to figure out which method to use — ezyCollect handles it for them.

What determines PayTo eligibility

Whether a specific payment qualifies for PayTo depends on three things, checked at the time of payment:

  1. The customer's bank

PayTo is supported by most major Australian banks, but not universally by every bank, building society, or credit union, and rollout timing has varied by institution. If a customer's financial institution hasn't enabled PayTo, or hasn't enabled it for their specific account, ezyCollect will automatically use the standard bank transfer flow instead.

  2. The type of account

Not all account types support PayTo. Everyday personal and business transaction accounts are generally supported where the bank has enabled PayTo, but some account types — for example, certain savings, foreign currency, or restricted-service accounts — may not be eligible. This is determined by the customer's bank, not by ezyCollect.

  3. The transaction amount

Banks set their own PayTo transaction and daily limits, and these vary considerably — some banks cap individual PayTo payments at a few thousand dollars per day, while others allow limits up to $25,000 per transaction. If a payment amount exceeds what the customer's bank allows for PayTo, ezyCollect will automatically revert that payment to the standard bank transfer/EFT flow rather than blocking or failing the payment.

Note: Because these thresholds are set by each bank and can change, ezyCollect doesn't maintain a fixed list of limits — the eligibility check happens live, per transaction, against the customer's bank and account at the time of payment.

What your customers will experience

When PayTo is supported for a payment, your customer will:

  • Be presented with the PayTo option in the payment flow

  • Provide their PayID, or BSB and account number

  • Receive an authorisation request in their banking app

  • Approve the payment in-app, with funds transferred in real time

When PayTo is not supported for a payment, your customer will:

  • See the familiar bank transfer/EFT (BECS) flow

  • Complete the payment exactly as they do today

  • Notice no difference in process, timing expectations, or communication

In both cases, the payment is recorded and reconciled in ezyCollect in the same way, so your workflows, reporting, and write-backs are unaffected.

FAQs

Do I need to enable PayTo for my account? No. PayTo eligibility is assessed automatically for each payment — there's no setup on your end.

Will my customers know which method they're using? Yes — the payment screen will reflect whichever method (PayTo or standard bank transfer) applies to that specific transaction.

What happens if a customer's bank doesn't support PayTo yet? The payment automatically proceeds via the standard bank transfer/EFT flow, exactly as it does today.

Can a payment fail because it's over the PayTo limit? No — if a payment amount exceeds what a customer's bank allows for PayTo, ezyCollect automatically uses the standard bank transfer method instead, so the payment isn't blocked.

Where can I see PayTo transactions in my reporting? PayTo and standard bank transfer payments are reconciled the same way in ezyCollect, so no changes are needed to your existing reporting or write-back processes.
